Supporting Drama, Dance, Music, and Stagecraft

Picture
FoPA is a volunteer parent group dedicated to supporting the school’s rich diversity of performing arts activities. Our goal is to ensure that dance, drama, music, and stagecraft flourish and remain a vital part of the education that BHS offers its students.

FoPA is an enthusiastic part of PTO’s mission to foster the home-school connection for BHS families. FoPA has many types of collaborative volunteer opportunities for parents where they can meet each other and work directly with faculty to support the BHS community. The BHS PTO does not provide funds directly to the FoPA organization, but provides grant opportunities for BHS Performing Arts faculty as part of the PTO's robust annual grant program.

FoPA activities include:
  • raising money for unfunded Performing Arts Department needs and funding grants submitted by BHS Performing Arts faculty and staff (view funded projects)
  • building audiences through outreach to all the Brookline schools and the town
  • ticket sales, ushering, and concession sales at performances
  • building awareness within BHS of performing arts classes and productions
  • advocating for sustained public funding for performing arts in Brookline

FoPA's past grants funded master classes with an Alvin Ailey dancer; guest artists to teach and inspire students in our Musica y Cultura program; a new lighting board for Roberts/Dubbs Auditorium; and upgraded recording equipment for concerts.

Donate to FoPA and support the performing arts at BHS!

Donations to FoPA are tax deductible via the Brookline High School Parent Teacher Organization (BHS PTO). BHS PTO is a 501c3.
