Monday, June 12, at the BHS Roberts/Dubbs Auditorium,BHS Alum and "Hamilton" cast member Nik Walker shared stories and insights about life in the arts and held a lively audience Q&A.

Thank you also to co-host Kenny Kozol, K-12 Performing Arts Curriculum Coordinator for the Public Schools of Brookline, and to BHS Friends of the Performing Arts, the Brookline Teen Center, and the Performing Arts Department of the Public Schools of Brookline.

Thank you, Nik Walker!

"Hamilton" Cast Member & Brookline High School Class of 2006 Alum
for a very special evening: "From Brookline to Broadway" June 12 at BHS
Whether I'm talking to fellow actor friends, dancers or musicians, there's one thing we always agree on: the road to success in the performing arts is one of the most non-linear, nonsensical things you'll ever experience! One day you're up, the next day you're down — it's more than a race, it's an endurance test, and the people who stick it out longest are those with the best grounding . . . which is why I was so blessed to start my performing arts education in the Brookline Public School system.

I cannot begin to tell you how deeply each of the Brookline Performing Arts Departments shaped my drive, my artistic comprehension and style; they taught me the importance of finding my own voice, instead of chasing others', of working within the community to serve the community. Every play or concert I did here was a free master class in critical thinking and expression, and each teacher left their indelible mark on me in ways I am still discovering today.
